Her career start in tv

Created by Celia 6 years ago

The first time Ros saw someone giving careers advice, she boldly told them she wanted to work in television but they just laughed! ‘That’s no career’, she was told, ‘you should become a secretary’, she was told. Well as advised, Ros did at first become a secretary and that was in the NHS to two consultants at Warwick Hospital but she later moved to the Dental Hospital in Birmingham. It wasn’t far from the ATV television centre and although she subsequently applied for a secretarial job there, she blatantly told the interviewer she would leave at the first opportunity if the position of Production Assistant ever came up.

Six months or so later, such a position came up at Elstree and she applied. Of course she got the job, moved down to St Albans and successfully completed her training. She continued to work in television for a number of companies (the most special being Ragdoll) until her retirement. She loved her work and never lost her enthusiasm, professionalism and sheer enjoyment in working in an industry she loved.
